    Andrzej Stępniak is professor at the University of Gdańsk. He is the head of Research Centre on European Integration at the University of Gdansk. He is distinguished expert in the area of European integration. In 1978 initiator and guardian of the European Documentation Centre, first this type of facility in the Polish university. The area of interests: theory of European integration, movement of production factors, economic and monetary union mechanisms. In 2007 conferred with scientific title of Professor by the President of Poland. Awarded with the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Rebirth of Polish in 2004 and by Business Centre Club with European Medal for promotion of European Union values in 2009. Member of the National Integration Council by the Prime Minister of Poland and Member of the “Reflexion” Group, by the President of Poland in 1998-2002. Economic adviser to the Chief Negotiator for Polish membership in the EU (1998-2001). Member of many economic bodies like: the Polish Economic Society, PECSA and ECSA.
