Prof. Piotr Błędowski is head of the Institute of Social Economy at Warsaw School of Economy, leader and chair of the Scientific Committee of the largest research of the situation of elderly people in Poland: PolSenior - Medical, psychological, sociological and economic aspects of ageing in Poland. Member of research teams in some European projects in FP 5, 6 and 7 (e.g. Financial Exclusion, Eurofamcare, Goete, Sefira).
Member of some scientific organizations, member of the Board of the Committee of Sciences of Labour and Social Policy at the Polish Academy of Sciences; Author of more than 200 publications, advisor of the Commission of Ageing Policy and the Commission of Family, Ageing and Social Policy in the Polish Parliament. Member of the Editorial Boards of the Journals “Problems of the Social Policy” and "Polish Gerontology". Expert of the European Commission in 7th Framework Programs in the area of social policy, ageing and social innovations in health care. Past-president of Polish Society of Gerontology
